Cook County criminal lawyer Lewis Gainor represented a man who had been found guilty by a jury and was facing sentencing of two to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections (prison). When that man left the courtroom with Lewis Gainor, the Illinois felony criminal conviction was reversed and vacated, and the case dismissed.

 

The story begins in the northern suburbs of Chicago in Lake Zurich. The man was arrested on November 19, 2006 for the Class 3 felony offense of illegally recording police officers' conversations.

The court held the man to trial by jury on the charge. The Lake County jury returned a verdict of guilty on July 19, 2007. The judge revoked the man's bond, and remanded into the custody of the sheriff. He was locked in jail.

Five months of litigation went by, and the matter was set for trial on April 11, 2007. Lewis Gainor appeared for the man in court, and got the case dismissed. He shook his client's hand, and walked him out of the courtroom. The client was free to never return. Case closed.
